Yesterday, the Maryland Democrat Party created graphics attacking state Republicans in their counties over the federal “One Big Beautiful Bill”.

The funniest part of the entire campaign is that they want to anger constituents for these members being “silent” on a Congressional bill they have no say on.

But the Maryland Democrat Party has a LOT to say about policy in this state – maintaining a supermajority for nearly 50 years means they make all the rules. They also raise all the taxes.

Today, over 300 individual pieces of legislation passed in the 2025 General Assembly Legislative Session will go into effect, including MASSIVE tax and fee increases contained in the behemoth budget bills. The budget, in particular, was passed without a single Republican vote – Thanks in large part to the Maryland Freedom Caucus, who led the charge against it. A sampling of how every Maryland will feel the $480 million increase this summer:

• A 3% “tech tax” on IT and web services you’ve come to rely on like web hosting and meeting platforms like Zoom.
• Two brand new income tax brackets for high earners (6.25% and 6.5%) as well as allowing Counties to raise their local income tax cap from 3.2% to 3.3%.
• The state’s cut of mobile sports betting revenue is increasing, with the tax rate jumping from 15% to 20%.
• Maryland is skipping the slow rollout and immediately hiking vehicle excise taxes, meaning you’ll pay more when you buy or transfer a car – 6.5% to be precise.
• Immediately increasing all car registration fees – again.
• Even the vehicle emissions test fee is being raised — from $14 to $30.

You’ll also be paying more to fund education priorities that are being paused, energy, and even abortion. The cost of living in Maryland is skyrocketing and unsustainable for many who, unfortunately, have cited a desire to leave, but the Maryland Democrats are whining about trimming waste, fraud, and abuse from the Medicaid program.
